Emily Sessa received her Ph.D. in 2012 from the Botany Department at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. After a one-year postdoc at the University of Arizona, she joined the faculty at the University of Florida in 2013, where she is currently an Associate Professor in the Biology Department. Her research focuses on the evolution and ecology of ferns and lycophytes, and specific projects are underway in her lab on fern systematics, historical biogeography, gametophyte biology, and fern responses to mass extinctions.
